Radio Clubs

Radio Clubs are the life blood of Amateur Radio.  They provide a regular forum for discussion of issues related to amateur radio and opportunities for learning and involvement in the hobby.

QVARC is an American Radio Relay League (ARRL) affiliated club in central Massachusetts comprised of a group of amateur radio enthusiasts with a wide variety of ham radio interests.  Many are interested in emergency preparedness; some are interested in mobile radio.

The attention of many amateur radio operators is focused on DX (contacting other countries) while others communicate in classic Morse code.  Newer computer controlled digital technologies are also of current interest to many.  Experimentation, equipment building, weather networks, radio direction finding, and rag chewing (extended informal conversations) also join the list of areas of interest.  The club is supportive of all of these areas, and frequently the club meetings will have presentations on equipment and technologies of interest to the members.

The club is community oriented and provides services to the area when radio communication support would be helpful or when it would provide a higher level of safety for an event.  This would include canoe races, road races for bicycles or runners, safety for large group events etc.
